Hopes for a post COVID-19 world

Besides coming out of this pandemic safe, my biggest hope for Humanity is that we all come away with the following: ) A sense of unity instead of the divisiveness so many currently believe to be inevitable: Example: The only people that declaring one's self "red" or "blue", "left" or "right" benefits are those who profit from such ideology. 2) An understanding that we all need greater awareness of those things needed for survival.  In that regard, centralized systems like corporate food suppliers, corporate energy suppliers, municipal water suppliers, and any other centralized systems that make our lives dependent upon profit-driven entities should be diminished or eliminated whenever and wherever possible: Example: Lawns may be beautiful, but you can't eat them, so wouldn't victory gardens be more appealing than shipments of processed trucked hundreds or thousands of miles. Now, I understand we cannot currently support our fa

Question for Biden supporters

I see some staunch Biden supporters posting that they would take the $1000 payment (for mortgage or rent) if the Government offered it to them. While this makes sense, I would ask them these the following questions: 1) HOW YOU GONNA PAY FOR THAT?! 2) Isn't that Socialism?  America seems okay with socialism for the rich: Tax breaks like those Trump approved in his 2017 tax bill or, Corporate subsidies, like those we have been paying fossil fuel companies (even after 7 or 8 CEO of oil companies testified to Congress that they did not need to be subsidized, or Plan ole handouts like the 1.5 trillion dollars that the Federal Reserve put into the Repo Market to coverup some failing bank(s) ( https://www.bloomberg.com/news/articles/2019-09-19/the-repo-market-s-a-mess-what-s-the-repo-market-quicktake ) or to falsely prop up zombie corporations that have long been dead (Note: This article is from 2014)    https://finance.yahoo.com/news/happens-fed-stops-propping-stocks-094500610.h

Banks used to GET robbed

The following is an excerpt (updated March 02, 2020) from my book Solutions: Enough complaining. Let's fix America,   which can be bought at the links listed below. “What purpose do banks serve to the masses anymore?”     Do banks pay any interest these days?  Or, more accurately, do they pay appreciable interest that helps the communities in which they reside.  How does one benefit from a savings account today?  At least with a checking account, paying bills is made easier, but is convenience the only standard that we should have for banks?  Aren’t banks and all businesses as much a part of the community as any individual living within that community?  While the corporation under which a particular bank may operate may be headquartered in some other state, the people employed in a local branch live in the communities in which they work.  And, as members of the community, how do banks treat the rest of us?  In my own personal experience, banks have treated me worse than a

Relax, you won't have to sleep on the streets forever

Have you seen the commercial in which a young boy tells the viewer to deal with homelessness by overcoming homelessness?  You know the one where it is implied that "you too could make it out of poverty" and all you have to do is ignore your own poverty and concentrate on being the best.  In this case, being the best at football was what got this boy out of poverty and into the one percent.  It was his drive and determination and the millions of positions available in the NFL...  Oh, wait. How many starting positions are there in the NFL?  For that matter, how many positions are there in the NFL period?  And, if you're not a star in the NFL, how much do you make and how long can you live off that pay when you only have a limited number of years to batter and abuse your body for the delight of the fans, the needs of the family and the handouts of the billionaires in the sky-boxes. To put it in terms that the majority of us can relate to, if you aren't the best at wh

America in decline...Can we stop it?

As those in the one percent of the one percent play with the stock market in an attempt to pilfer the last  $1000 dollars that most America can't even save for an emergency (https://money.cnn.com/2018/01/18/pf/lack-of-savings-cover-unexpected-expense/index.html), America moves ever so closer to moral, social, economic and environmental collapse, the last two impacting the entire planet to varying degrees.  When certain Chinese debt is considered less risky than its American counterpart around the world,  (https://www.bloomberg.com/opinion/articles/2018-12-12/markets-conclude-u-s-treasuries-are-riskier-than-chinese-debt) a sincere and thorough investigation of America's financial viability into the future is warranted.  As some countries seek to usurp the dollar as the World's reserve currency, while others away from the Petrodollar, (https://www.huffingtonpost.com/alastair-crooke/petrodollar-us-saudi-policy_b_6245914.html) America's influence and practices around t
